Orange County Tourism is the industry headquarters and the official I LOVE NEW YORK office for the county. As part of Orange County Government, the mission of the office is to increase economic development through tourism jobs and revenues by promoting the county’s stellar destinations to the world. The office also serves as headquarters for Hudson Valley Tourism, I LOVE NEW YORK’s regional organization.
Travelers to Orange County spend over $430,000,000 annually, a number that continues to increase every year. That translates into over $28,000,000 in local taxes received through these visitors. The tourism industry employs over 9,000 people with an annual payroll of $140,000,000.
The only county in New York located between two rivers (the Delaware and the Hudson), Orange has some of the best known and most visited destinations in the state. Sites such as West Point, Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, Storm King Art Center, and Motorcyclepedia are promoted through the tourism web site, Internet, radio, print ads, articles and press releases. The office attends both consumer and group trade shows, hosts travel writers from all over the world, speaks to civic groups, and consults with local towns and organizations about their tourism product. An annual travel guide is produced and distributed to information centers, lodging properties, and requests received from throughout the United States.
